Princess Cruise Line

Princess was my first cruise, paid for by my parents. The nightlife was nearly nonexistent. Nevertheless it was clean, the staff friendly, and the food good.I later went on Royal Caribbean and Norwegian, which proved to be a better and more enjoyable experience. Yet I did enjoy being with my parents on Princess and knowing the elderly are taken care of well there.

Cruise Ships - Norwegian or Royal Caribbean. Compare notes

I was a bit annoyed by some of Norwegian's arrogant staff who tried to rush us out of the Chocolate fondu party by repeatedly dimming the lights and hovering over us. The financial / adminstrative department up front running the ship was equally rude and short with me whenever I sought to deal with the excessive fees and unauthorized gratuities.
I do like the layout of Royal Caribbean's city center stage, which is very glamorous in comparison with the smoke filled casino one must frequently walk through at Norwegian's Pearl cruise ship to get back and forth from the restaurants to the theater.

I must say however that Royal Caribbean does a very hard sale with their restaurant staff at least 2 nights on the Adventure of the Seas cruise ship. The staff from all their respective international countries parade around the dining room clapping hysterically, shouting, and hyping up the audience emotionally to feel guilty and good about tipping them well before departure. It's a bit over the top.

Norwegian Cruise Line vs. Royal Caribbean Cruise

Norwegian Cruise Line vs. Royal Caribbean Cruise

Which cruise line do you like better and why?

I like the freestyle cruising at Norwegian because I don't feel rushed to dinner after a fun day of excursions. Yet there is a noticeable difference as to the service staff at Royal Caribbean. Because Royal staff has an economic incentive (a tip for hard work) they do work harder to serve you.

Nevertheless if you are patient enough to wait a bit, Norwegian staff take decent care of you at the restaurants. Both cruise ships go to great destinations.

As for the layout of the cruise ship, I like Royal Caribbean's pool layout a bit more as there are some pool and hot tubs in the front of the ship a bit out of the way of screaming kids and loud families. Yet if you pay the difference to use the spa at Norwegian, they have some great quiet spots up front at the ship which also afford you a great view and quiet time.

I think the food on both cruise ships is outstanding, but my friends feel Royal Caribbean offers better food.

My parents took me on a Princess cruise a couple years ago, which was nice but the nightlife was dead and the crowd much older. Yet I did enjoy the experience on my first cruise and now am a cruise addict.

Any cruise commentary from any other passengers out there who enjoy cruising the high seas?
